WHY COULDN'T HE HAVE JUST GROPED EVA BRAUN AND GOTTEN IT OVER WITH?
In less than 18 hours the political suicide of Arnold Schwarzenegger is almost complete. First, early Thursday morning came the L.A Times article, which at a bare minimum, screamed from the rooftops that the Governator-in-Waiting is an oafish lout. Then came his assanine and politically incomprehensible apology of said conduct.
As I earlier predicted, the opposition is piling on. Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante has alleged that Schwarzenegger's conduct consitutes "Misdeamenor sexual battery." Now, of course, former campaign rival Arianna Huffington has scheduled a press conference with one of the grope-ees.
And it's only gotten worse as the day progressed. It took fewer than 18 hours for the other jackboot to drop. Yes, Arnold's long rumoured admiration of Adolf Hitler has come to print. It turns out all the best parts of "Pumping Iron" and the Oui Interview were left out. Arnold is quoted, in 1975, as saying the following;
"I admired Hitler, for instance, because he came from being a little man with almost no formal education, up to power. I admire him for being such a good public speaker and for what he did with it."
Let's all overlook what Hitler did with that power, like that nasty little HOLOCAUST, for a moment, shall we? It's not like Arnold could ever have similar aspirartions, right? We really shouldn't jump to such conclusions.
He is quoted as saying he wished he could have an experience, "like Hitler in the Nuremberg stadium. And have all those people scream at you and just being total agreement whatever you say."
Okay, if I was running Team Arnold, I'd be worried now. After all, "Arnold:Like Hitler in the Nuremberg Stadium!" doesn't make for a particularly catchy bumper sticker. And it's not the kind of button you'd want to be wearing at a rally at say, a synogouge.
Arnold's campaign is quickly becoming the history's slowest suicide.It's almost as if he put a shotgun in his mouth in the mid 1970's and pulled the trigger. It just took 28 years for the buckshot to pierce the highly developed muscles in the roof of his mouth. The brains may have hit the wall long ago but it's only now that the blood is pooling around the body politic.
At this point, Schwarzenegger should forget about becoming Governor and develop a strategy to avoid being driven back to Austria. On second thought, Kurt Waldheim had similiar views as Arnold and he did well in Austrian politics......Hmmmmmmm
