SHOW HER THE MONEY
Less than four hours ago former Pentagon employee and suspected man, Linda Tripp reached a settlement with the Department of Defense and the United States government that will lead to the dismissal of all outstanding litigation.
Tripp sued the government on the grounds that the Department of Defense invaded her privacy! Just in case anyone missed that, I'll repeat it slowly. Linda Tripp, whose surreptitious recording of her conversations with Monica Lewinsky provided evidence that President Clinton committed perjury in the Paula Jones civil deposition- and lead to his impeachment and the gravest constitutional crisis since Watergate- sued the government because they invaded her privacy!
Seems that Clinton's people got a little vindictive and released a confidential report that Tripp had been arrested for shoplifting in high school. The charges against her were dismissed. In leaking this information to the media, however, the Administration violated the Privacy Act. I know what you're thinking...."Opps."
So the government is paying her off. $595,000 and a retroactive adjustment to her pension. For Linda Tripp's privacy being violated.
It's official, irony can now die. It just can't go any further than this.
