THIS IS YOUR COUNTRY. THIS IS YOUR COUNTRY ON DRUGS.
On Friday November 14, 2003, psychotic, soon-to-be-former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien met with U2 frontman and former Jesus impersonator Bono at the Liberal Party Leadership Convention here in Toronto. During the "summit", Chretien tore Bono's trademark wraparound sunglasses from his face and sang a 35 minute version of U2's "Bad" in a combination of incomprehensible English and gutter French.
For an encore, Chretien then choked Bono.
Bono then met with Prime Minister Designate Paul Martin, who upon being advised of his treatment at the hands of the dangerously unstable Chretien, promised to have him "whacked" upon his assumption of power. Bono and Martin smiled for the cameras after their "understanding" had been reached.
It should go without saying that Bono's speech to the convention actually made sense, unlike Martin's and Chretien's. Although making more sense than Jean Chretien is hardly a noble achievement....
