HMMMMM, INTERESTING. VERRRY INTERESTING.
It turns out that Private First Class Lynndie England, the West Virginian star of the Iraqi "torture" pictures we've all come to know and love, enjoys more intimate posings for the cameras herself.
Among the series of pictures shown to members of Congress yesterday, Pfc is shown having some of her own fun with U.S military personell in the prison.
"She was having sex with numerous partners. It appeared to be consensual," said a lawmaker who saw the photos.
Furthermore...
"Almost everybody was naked all the time," another lawmaker said.
Jesus Christ. While I supported this war in a roundabout way, I never, never expected it to turn into Operation: Spring Break. We're only a couple of fucking minor Baldwin brothers from this turning into a complete farce.
And some people are harping that the Bush administration won't release the photos. Don't worry. These folks aren't that dumb.They basically have two choices of how to handle this. They can release all the photos at once, or they can watch as they leak out, one by one, for months on end. The political damage resulting from a slow leak, coupled with coming disclosures regarding the probable involvement of higher-ups in the administration will be insurmountable.
Besides, this White House has grown very adept at the "Friday Night Dump." The Dump is a procedure whereby you collect a massive amount of potentially damaging information and release it to the press late Friday evening. This ensures that the information is buried in the giant Saturday newspapers that nobody reads and aired on the weekend newsbroadcasts nobody watches. This is precisely what Team Bush did with the National Guard story. They dug up every piece of paper the Pentagon had with the word "Bush" written on it and released it at 7:30 on a Friday night. And then the story went away.
This basically guarantees that there were be no one image that lingers in the popular imagination, rather a flurry of ugliness that, history demonstrates, will quickly be forgotten. The slow leak is the exact opposite. An image a day, to horrify the public for months, is the surest way that John Kerry can become president. And say what you will about Bush/Cheney, but they are political professionals. They know that I'm right, just as surely as I do. I expect that the official party line will be "maintaining the secrecy of criminal procedure" until about 8 PM, EST tomorrow. Then KABLOOEY! We all get Lyndiee starkers. This is a good thing as it seems she might have a decent body. And who wants to wait for Hustler to run the photos.
Besides, I'm still pissed at not seeing that other West Virginian model of military virtue, Jessica Lynch naked.
