THE GODS MUST BE CRAZY

Okay, let's assume you have some family stress. Let's assume your son has some physical ailment. Like most people, you reasonably assume that that malady can be traced back to the fact that he is very probably under the influence of a ghost. Because, let's be fair here, not everyone has a strip-mall church where their children can be taken for treatment.

So, what do you do under those circumstances? People of faith everywhere will tell you that your salvation lies in prayer. So, off to your temple of choice you go. You explain your dilemma to your chosen deity in hopes of divine guidance. You receive that guidance. You're thrilled and go about following your God's instructions.

Now, if you're anything like me and spent your teen years drunk at 5 o'clock in the morning, you'd know that, under ordinary circumstances, you'd wind up on the 700 Club with Pat Robertson kissing your ass until you think the very sun itself sets on it.

For some reason, life doesn't always work out like that.

I know what you're all saying, "skippy, you putz. You of all people should know that Hinduism isn't a monotheistic faith! Jesus, you ARE as dumb as you look aint'cha? And even if you're too dense to know that, certainly Mr. Lal should've. He should've gotten a second opinion."

I think that argument overlooks something important here. Nobody checked to see if Mr. Lal's solution was actually effective. See, I'm thinking someone should pull the kid aside and say something like, "Hey kid, you still under the influence of ghosts or what?" Of course, the kid might be a little traumatized by seeing his mother butchered, her tongue eaten and her body set alight, so it might not be that easy to ascertain.

Besides, who else was he going to call? Ghostbusters? Everybody knows that's only make believe.

Unlike most of you, I CAN see the forest for the trees.
